Farewell Good Friend

We received the following information from one of our members, Niela Miller:

Dr. Ilana Rubenfeld died on December 23, 2022 after a long illness (progressive supra nuclear palsy or PSP).

She was living at Rogue Valley Manor, an excellent Life Care facility in Medford, Oregon, and was ALSO being cared for by BRIAN KERNS, A STEADFAST COMPANION AND ADVOCATE, a friend from her music community.

Ilana created a branch of humanistic psychology called Rubenfeld Synergy and was responsible for treating, teaching and training thousands of people. HER BOOK, “THE LISTENING HAND”, WAS PUBLISHED IN 2000. She was a member of AHP for many years and did presentations at annual conferences and also taught and worked at many learning centers such as Esalen. Before becoming a humanistic psychologist, she studied at Julliard and was a professional conductor in New York City for ten years.

Her sister, Lydia, was with her in her last days. Her extended family was myself, (Niela Miller, lifelong friend starting at H.S. of Music&Art and also AHP presenter for many years), my daughter, Andrea, and my son-in-law, John Adams. Those who knew and loved Ilana, and might want to be part of a Zoom celebration of her life later, can email Niela Miller for more information.
