AHP President Receives Bronze Best Book Medal Award

According to Independent Publishers, “the purpose of the Living Now Book Awards is to celebrate the innovation and creativity of newly published books that can help us improve the quality of our lives…” The Living Now Book Awards, therefore, “are designed to bring increased recognition to the year’s very best lifestyle books and their creators.” Gold, silver, and bronze medals are awarded in five “Evergreen Medal” categories in recognition of the “Year’s Best Books for Better Living.” The five categories are:

EVERGREEN MEDAL FOR WORLD PEACE
EVERGREEN MEDAL FOR HEALTH AND WELLNESS
EVERGREEN MEDAL FOR PERSONAL GROWTH
EVERGREEN MEDAL FOR SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP
EVERGREEN MEDAL FOR NATURE CONSERVATION

As AHP President, I am very honored and very grateful that in September 2016 my book, Evolving The Human Race Game: A Spiritual and Soul-Centered Perspective, received the 2016 Evergreen Bronze Medal For Spiritual Leadership Award.

“Three years ago, we launched the Evergreen Book Medals to commemorate world-changing books published since the year 2000. We all seek healthier, more fulfilling lives for ourselves and for the planet, and books are important tools for gaining knowledge about how to achieve these goals for ourselves, our loved ones, and for Planet Earth. Divided into five categories, these books are honored for their contributions to positive global change. Here are the Living Now Evergreen Book medalists.”

Dr. Ferguson would like to leave our readers with these final words:

Carroy Ferguson is a tenured full faculty member who has been teaching at UMass Boston since 1979. A practicing clinical psychologist, he co-founded two organizations, Interculture, Inc. and Associates in Human Understanding. He incorporates his experience in clinical psychology and counseling into his instructional activities by aiming to assist students in better understanding themselves as learners by examining their own personal circumstances, particular situations, and socio-cultural influences. Professor Ferguson has consulted for General Learning Corporation; A. L. Nellum & Associates; Charles Hamilton & Associates; and has led workshops on topics involving the evolution of consciousness, personal growth, social change, social justice, organizational development, human relations, race relations, and multi-cultural dynamics. He has served on a number of boards (e.g., Association for Humanistic Psychology; The Dimock Center; The Institute for Humanistic Psychology; and others).

In 2006, he was the first African American elected president of the Association for Humanistic Psychology (AHP), an international association to give voice to "ordinary people with an extraordinary vision for a more conscious and humane global society." He served for an unprecedented five terms as president of AHP and since 2006 has continued as either either president or co-president. Professor Ferguson also serves as associate editor of The Journal of Humanistic Psychology.
