AHP Members

AHPWEB - FOR MEMBERS

Hello

I want to introduce myself (see http://www.cpcs.umb.edu/calendar/cpcs_news.htm) and to ask you to support AHP as it continues what I call its “transformational mission.”  As the newly elected President of AHP, I feel very honored to be the first African American and first person of color to hold this office.

From the beginning, AHP has been a history-making enterprise.  As the “mother organization” that gave birth to The Human Potential Movement, AHP also arguably gave birth to numerous inspirational ideas, paradigm shifts, transformational and evolutionary theories and methods, authors, and luminary speakers that deal with “possibilities,” “choice,” and the value, validity, and dignity of the human spirit.  AHP continues to stand strong as an international organization and “family of kindred spirits on the edge” with a “transformational mission” that is intentional.  That transformational mission is to enhance the quality of human experience (mentally, physically, spiritually, socially, culturally, and environmentally) and to advance the evolution of consciousness (individually and collectively).  In a world where societal and global themes of war, violence, and conflict seem to currently capture the attention and focus of our individual and collective consciousness, AHP provides an invaluable, hopeful, alternative, conscious focus.

AHP carries out its “transformational mission,” maintains its conscious focus, and acts as a “conscious global change agent” by sponsoring, alone and with strategic partners, educational event and projects, publications, and a global Web presence.  Examples of AHP activities include:

•A Global Web Presence with “millions of hits” directed toward: an AHP Professional Directory; AHP Bookstore (with a special AHP authors’ section); access to other humanistic publications, bibliographies, and articles; calendar of events and workshops; links to humanistic schools and related organizations; links to a national and international network and resources.

•Professional Publications (e.g., AHP Perspective and Journal of Humanistic Psychology)

•Sponsored Events/Workshops, with presenters such as Caroline Myss, Gregg Braden, and Marianne Williamson

•Endorsed Conferences like Quest for Global Healing in Ubud, Bali (May 2006), International Conference on Conflict Resolution in St. Petersburg, Russia (May 2006), International Forum on the Person-Centered Approach in Spain (May 7-12, 2007).

•Special Events for Professionals like the International Professional Day on “Worldviews: Living in Separate, Virtual Realities” in Cancun (January 2006).

•Co-sponsored Events with Strategic Partners (e.g., Institute of Noetic Sciences, New Dimensions Radio, Hay House, Spirituality & Health Magazine, Body & Soul Magazine, Association for Transpersonal Psychology)

•Projects like The Perspectives Archives Project (45 years of AHP magazine articles and AHP President messages) and The Right to Choose Project

•Joint Strategic Collaboration with the Association for Transpersonal Psychology (ATP)

•Energy Centers like the Oregon Community Energy Center and California State University-Northridge Student Energy Center

So, how can you support AHP and its “transformational mission” and contribute to the work of shifting our individual and collective conscious focus?  First, I ask that you recognize that AHP has been and is currently engaged in co-creating a New Reality, shaping a new history in relation to a diverse world.  In this light, AHP wants you to “re-member” with your “family of origin of kindred spirits” and to join or re-join us in this exciting, co-creative enterprise.  AHP is an open, diverse, nurturing, and inclusive family.  “Re-member,” you do not need to be a psychologist to be an AHP family member. You can support AHP and its transformational mission, therefore, in several ways:  (1) if you are looking for a worthwhile organization to which you want to make a tax-deductible donation, we invite you to make that donation to AHP (see donation categories below); (2) if you are thinking of joining or re-joining AHP, now is the time to do so; (3) if you are a current AHP member and know other kindred spirits, ask them to “re-member” with the AHP family; (4) if you would like to sponsor one or more AHP student memberships, please do so; (5) if you would like to “gift” funds or assets to AHP to assist in our ongoing co-creative venture, there is no time like the present to start that process; and (6) if you have friends, family members, acquaintances, and colleagues who you think could benefit by “consciously connecting” with the AHP family or who you think might want to make a tax-deductible donation, you can invite them to do so.

When all is said and done, I’d like for you to think of AHP as your extended spiritual family, as so many members do.  It is and always has been simply a matter of “re-membering” with your “family of kindred spirits on the edge.”  You can start that process by clicking on “Join/Renew AHP Membership” on this website (and also suggesting others do so), or by making your donations or student sponsorships.  To “gift” funds or assets, please contact Bonnie at ahpoffice@aol.com.

Welcome Home!

AHP PERSPECTIVE ARCHIVE PROJECT

Deb Oberg, long time AHP member, who helped plan and produce the Midwest AHP Conferences in Indianapolis for many years, is scanning all the issues of AHP Perspective (called AHP Newsletter earlier). She is about halfway through the scanning which is a very time consuming process. After the scanning is completed, we will create a searchable index by author, issue, and topic. This archive will be posted on ahpweb.org.

AHP WORLDWIDE AND STUDENT GIFT MEMBERSHIPS PROJECT

Due to the generosity of donors, we have awarded 55 gift memberships in the past year to students and others in many countries of the world: Czechoslovakia, Hungary, India, Iran, Poland, Romania, Russia, Taiwan, United Kingdom, United States (in five different states), and Yugoslavia. We hope to award 50 to 100 additional gift memberships in the coming year!

LUKE LUKENS MEMORIAL FUND
AHP's Administrative and Fiscal Coordinator Luke Lukens, who passed away suddenly in October, had initiated a successful Matching Donor Campaign for AHP, wherein Board members and others donated $5000 and then the membership was asked to match that amount. As of the end of 2004, it had been matched by another $5000. In his honor the donor fund will continue in his name. The projects he was so interested in raising funds for are:

AHP Press- will begin publishing works with a humanistic perspective in 2005.

AHP Archive
